JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Support the development of the Ares launch vehicle: conduct analyses of historical acoustic/vibro-acoustic test data, make predictive assessments, and provide guidance for future full-scale and sub-scale testing. Perform other development tasks as specified by customer.
BACKGROUND: Minimum of Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or related; prefer Masters or other advanced degree. Minimum 10 years of experience in design, analysis or testing involving acoustics, vibro-acoustics and structural dynamics of mechanical systems, with emphasis on aerospace launch vehicle dynamics. Extensive knowledge of standard commercial software tools for acoustics, vibro-acoustics and Structural Energy Analysis, like AutoSEA, VA-1, Actran, etc. Knowledge of test data pre/post-processing, data reduction/scaling techniques, and test instrumentation required.
